  • Stoke City Football Club play in the City of Stoke-on-Trent, England. The club was founded in 1863 and is the second oldest professional football club in the world.
  • Stoke City were a Founder Member of the English Football League in 1888 and currently play in the English Championship, the Division directly below the English Premier League (EPL). Stoke are currently 3rd in The Championship and pushing for promotion to the EPL.
  • Their home ground is the Britannia Stadium, a 28,500 capacity stadium built in 1997.
  • Stoke City have historically played in red & white striped shirts and white shorts.
  • The club nickname is The Potters, so called because of the area’s long history and tradition of being at the center of the world’s pottery industry.
  • Down the years Stoke City have fielded a host of famous and talented players, among them are Sir Stanley Matthews, Gordon Banks, OBE, Peter Shilton, MBE & OBE, Denis Smith, Alan Hudson & a footballing god, Mr.James Greenhoff.
