USSF D-2 Pro League Closes Out August Schedule with Seven Matches in Week 21

08/30/2010 11:06 AM - The final week in August for the USSF D-2 Pro League featured seven games and kicked off on Aug. 25 with a 2-1 victory by the Carolina RailHawks against the Tampa Bay Rowdies in Florida. The Austin Aztex drew the Portland Timbers 1-1 on the road in Oregon, keeping pace with conference leaders Rochester. Both the Rhinos and Aztex have already qualified for the postseason, but a two-point difference between the clubs ensures a battle all the way down to the wire for the USL Conference crown.

Aztex Inch Closer to First Place With Draw

Two minutes after trotting onto the field in the 78th minute, Eddie Johnson snapped a header into the Vancouver Whitecaps goal to send the Austin Aztex home with a 2-2 draw at Swangard Stadium, giving Austin at least one point against every team in the USSF D-2 Pro League.

Aztex Steal a Draw at Portland

08/26/2010 9:49 PM - Despite playing a man down for most of the second half, the Austin Aztex were able to get out of PGE Park in Portland on Thursday night with a 1-1 draw against the Timbers. Sullivan Silva scored the key goal, his first of the year, as he blasted a shot from the left side of the field into the far post, which tied the match in the 27th minute.

Aztex Take Two-Game West Coast Road Trip

08/25/2010 3:31 PM - After a playoff-clinching victory on Sunday at House Park, the Austin Aztex head west for a two-game swing at Portland on Thursday and at Vancouver on Sunday. These two opponents will arguably make for Austin’s toughest weekend of the season as Vancouver is ranked third overall in the USSF D-2 Pro League and tops the NASL Conference, while Portland sits just below the Aztex in the USL Conference table.
