The Austin Aztex today named
Wolfgang Suhnholz as their U23 Coach. Suhnholz brings a world of experience to the Aztex having p

layed professionally for 18 years in both Europe and the US. Suhnholz was
Head Coach of the US U-20 Men’s National Team from 1999 to 2001. While working with the US Soccer Federation he went to
two World Cups as a Coach. He holds a USSF “A” License.
Phil Rawlins, President of the Austin Aztex, said “I am delighted we have been able to persuade Wolfgang to work with the Aztex. He has an outstanding track record and is one of the most respected coaches in the US, with a tremendous network that we can leverage. I believe Wolfgang’s appointment is a statement of how serious the Aztex are about not simply competing but winning! We aim to be the very best both on and off the field. Wolfgang will help make us that, he has very high standards and we liked that about him”. Suhnholz will continue to coach “premier level” boys teams for the Lonestar Soccer Club.
The U23 Assistant Coach will be Bobby Murphy, who also holds a USSF “A” License. Murphy is currently the Director of the Soccer Academy at St. Stephen’s, one of only four residential soccer academies in the country. Prior to that his tenure with St. Stephen’s, he was the Director of Coaching for South Texas Youth Soccer Association.
The Coaching Team will be assisted by the appointment of Ron Dennie as Player Liaison Manager. Dennie will support both Head Coach Adrian Heath and Wolfgang Suhnholz as they build their respective rosters. He currently runs the Boys Academy at Austin United Capitals and holds a USSF “B” License.
