The Aztex have announced their 2008 U-23 season with the first home game scheduled against another new team in the league, the Houston Leones. The Leones are affiliated with professional soccer club Cruz Azul of La Primera División de México. The season schedule features matches with some of the toughest clubs in the Premier Development League of the USL. Early in the season the Aztex play a match against The Laredo Heat on the Heat’s home field. The season offers the Aztex an opportunity to establish the club, get coaches on the ground and working, field some players and get a look at some of the best young talent in the Premier Development League before getting the Aztex First Division professional season underway in 2009.

Southern Conference Playoffs: The top two teams in each division advance to the conference championship tournament. The division champions face the second place team from the opposite division in the conference semifinals. The winner of the conference championship advances to the PDL Semifinals.
The top U23 men’s amateur league in North America lives in the USL Premier Development League PDL, the development ground for elite players. The 2008 campaign features a 67-team format within four conferences, consisting of 16 regular season matches, 8 home and 8 away. The schedule is augmented by participation in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and various exhibitions. Players have the ability to compete in the PDL throughout the summer months in a professionalized setting while maintaining their collegiate eligibility.
